Moving Tips

It is said that moving is one of the most stressful times in a persons life. You can reduce the stress by just doing a few simple things. 

MAKE EARLY ARRANGEMENTS

  • Book your mover early

  • Arrange help to pack, it helps to work as a team

  • Unlikely to use it again? Do a cull as you pack

  • Use storage if there is an overlap between the old and new place

SAY GOODBYE TO UNUSED STUFF

Cull unwanted stuff as you pack. Most people fall into the trap of "I'll get around to sorting it out once we're settled". Truth is most people never open "those boxes" ever again. Along with the nagging in the back of your mind trying to find that "one day" it will cost you more and take extra time moving them.

GET STURDY, UNIFORM PACKING SUPPLIES

Strong boxes of a similar size will help. Weak ones can fall apart easily and cause damage to your items. Similar size boxes helps speed up loading saving you time and money.

PACK THE BASICS YOURSELF

  • Involve the kids by getting them to pack their clothes or toys. If they are busy it takes pressure off you.

  • Use plain paper not newspaper to wrap the glasses. Newspaper print transfers to the glass creating an unnecessary dishwashing job as you unpack.

  • Get the beds ready first. After a big day you will just want to flop on the bed and get some sleep.
